Could someone explain why some teenagers are obsessed with Anime?

I tried to get into it but I dont get its appeal reallyCould someone explain why some teenagers are obsessed with Anime?
You don't have to get into anime just to know what's so amazing about it.

teens are relate to some kids who are the same age as them, since they're the main roles of the anime.

Depends on the genre they like, its one of the reasons they love anime because they can relate to it. Also, anime is just a fantasy world where most of us teens can't go to. We watch anime to escape reality.

anime is just a different category of tv shows.


but more teenagers are obsessed with it because there are so many that fit into many different genres.


you have a choice of about 3 different genres on regular evening american tv, but in anime, there are many.


and not only are there many genres, but each one in the genre is different. lets say there are 3 different popular mecha animes. mecha #1 might have more romance and a more interesting plot, while mecha #2 has lots of action, less character depth, and an overused plot


mecha #3 has a dumb plot, but funny characters and balanced romance and action


where as on normal american drama tv-


drama #1 has no plot, and lots of cheesy romance


drama #2 has no plot and lots of cheesy romance


drama #3 has little plot and lots of cheesy romance





(some) teenagers are attracted to anime because of it's great diversity. there are LOADS of different shows, and many different, well-developed characters.


also, in anime, there's no such thing as cheap CGI, because all of it is animated.


also, through it's entire animation, entertaining things, like funny faces and actions can be accomplished in anime


these things could not be accomplished with real people.
It's not just for teenagers, it's for adults too.





I didn't actually get into anime/manga until I was eighteen.


It's appeal is that it's fantasy. The stories are usually really compelling and imaginative. I hadn't ever really seen anything like it. Most ';fantasy'; stuff you come across as an American is Disney Princesses and The Last Unicorn. But Pokemon and DBZ and Naruto and all of that kind of stuff is just so different from all of that. But unlike those kinds of shows (and Western cartoons), a lot of anime has a continuing story with a goal. They also sometimes have really philosophical themes. And not all anime is for kids. There are a lot out there that are exclusively for mature audiences (and I'm NOT talking about hentai here).





You probably haven't found one that appeals to your personal tastes. I realize that not everybody likes anime. Sometimes the stories are way out there. But there's soo many genres. It's not all sci-fi fantasy magic robot stuff. There are some that are more realistic that follow characters in the real world with real life problems. But a lot of people really just enjoy watching the stuff that's way out there.
Because it is awesome.





If you were trying to get into it, you probably picked the wrong anime.





Also did you watch the English version or the Japanese version


The Japanese versions are better.





Have you ever watched Pokemon? Sailor Moon? Those shows are animes





Btw teenagers aren't the only ones that like anime ALOT of adults do to ^^

If you don't like it, it's not a big deal.


I like it because there is a wide variety of anime for people of all ages.


I think it has a very detailed plot, and character design.


In the middle/high school anime's I can relate to them, because I'm in Middle School.


Some anime's have comedy, action, adventure, romance, horror, etc. which I think are the best genre's.


That's why I like it. =D
just because you don't like anime doesn't mean others can't... everyone has their own taste. think of what you really like... hockey, videogames, a certain football team, etc. it is the same... i hate football and hockey (sports to say the least) and others love them... i love anime, others hate it. it is a matter of opinion, and the ones who like anime the most just happen to be teens... not all teens like anime, even adults like anime... it is like asking why toddlers like to watch barney and all that crap, it is just how they are and how they were raised.

teenagers like anime so much because its made out of the imagination. it helps them escape reality and jus enjoy their life. sometimes ppl might have a messed up life and they watch an anime that make sthem feel like they are watching their self but in a more jazzed up version. i love anime because of that reason i mostly watch ones based on outcasts trying to be noticed for something except for the obvious...and some i watch because they have such a great story line that u get drawn in n u wanna know wat happens next





its like any other obsession...cuz u like it alot it draws u in and it isnt jus teenagers. another reason i watch is cuz im an artist and i love seeing other ppls art...if its in a cartoon, an art gallery, or an anime. I love learning from other artists on how to improve my art work and make it go farther in the world...





there is no real reson why ppl love anime they all have their own reasons...i jus gave u mine....sometimes i dream im in the anime cuz it pulls me in so much..and wish i lived in that world...c there are alot of reasons





why do ppl watch sports...why do ppl collect cards....ur question is like these...there is no real answer ppl all have their own reasons...

I could they not be ??? I mean come on....the romance the action the way some of them end like a soap Opera ....it just gives them something to look forward to every day ...some thing to do when they are bored out of their minds !!! ...Take me for a HUGE example ....I spend 19 years of my life on anime ...and i'll still be into anime even WAAAYYYY after i'm 50 years old !!! So you see no matter what YOU think or what anyone else thinks there are ALWAYS going to be some Teen or even a grown up that will be watching anime !!!
I am, and the word to describe them is Otaku. There are many different opinions on why they like it, I just find it cool and creative. Some people like the visuals and sounds. But just like with any obsession, there is always an unknown reason behind loving it.
I like anime shows, only good one, well-drawn one. But I'm not 'obsessed' with it. I just like it along with 1000s of films, shows, animation and anime I've seen. I just love the story tellers and the art behind it.
Anime keeps you from thinking about the annoying stuff in reality.


Teenagers[like me] like it because we can relate to it. (sometimes)
thats easy. it takes away their troubles.





If a girl's boyfriend breaks up with her, then she might read anime, cuz it makes her feel better, knowing their life is better than theirs.
Because they find it amusing!!





Don't bother yourself if you don't like it!

Obsessed? Nah you're missin out on the good stuff.
Because they like it, it's the same as any other obsession.
